New Stretch Goal Announced! | Vote on the Next Critic Name! | Previous Critic Name Revealed!

Stretch Goal Announced!

Once again, thank you all so much for getting Food Time Battle in Space over the line and then going onto hitting the first stretch goal, incredible!

Now it's time to announce the next stretch goal. To get us to a nice round number of 30 unique illustrations, we plan to welcome another four critics to the lunar surface. This will, of course, cost more as we have to pay our artist Fodsley, so we are setting the goal at £2350. Achievable, but we all collectively have to keep sharing, liking and commenting on the Kickstarter to keep engagement up and to increase our search rankings.

Vote on the new critic's name now!

Next up, let's introduce another critic! Meet... well, you have to decide that one for yourselves. This fellow is from The United States of America. Formerly in charge of scheduling for the Pennsylvania railroad, he is a stickler for time management. He hasn't eased up much in his retirement and will require the finest of dining when visiting your establishment. Make sure to comment down below on what you believe we should call him.

The votes are in, here are the results!

Thank you so much for voting on the last critic name; it means a lot to me that we contribute to this game together. It's more than likely that there will only be 100 copies of Food Time Battle in Space in existence, so to see that we are all in this little community, making the game the best it can be is fantastic!

Thanks,

Stretch Goal Unlocked! | New Critic, Name Them Now! | Name Reveal for the Last Critic!

Stretch Goal Unlocked

Thank you all so much for getting this campaign over £2000! It means that we will have 10 extra illustrations added to the game, making the game even more beautiful and exciting. Fodsley is busy at work providing new critics for us every few days to see for the very first time, and that leads me onto my next point!

New Critic, vote for what her name will be now in the comments below!

This critic is from Lithuania. All four names are popular baby names in Lithuania from the 1950s. Lithuanian names are interesting as, depending on your sex, you are most likely to have a specific letter at the end of your name. For women, it is "a" or "e". Who said Kickstarter updates can't be educational! Make sure to vote on which name you prefer in the comments below

Check out the results from the last poll, so close!

With just minutes to go from me posting this update, Johnny and Jagger were tied at 5 votes apiece. I put out a call to our Discord to make sure that this decision didn't have to be decided at a toss of a coin. Thankfully we got one last vote with moments to spare. Johnny is the winner!

Thank you all so much once again for allowing this game to become the best it possibly can by hitting this stretch goal. We will be announcing the next stretch goal over the coming days!

Thanks,

New Critic Reveal & YOU Get To Name Them! | Tranquil Sushi Chef Name Reveal!
about 3 years ago – Fri, Mar 12, 2021 at 07:59:59 AM

Meet the new critic! Vote for his name in the comments below!

This critic is our first character from Iceland! When he visits your diner, sure he's after a nice meal, but his interests lie more with the company, tunes and decor, so don't worry too much about giving him your luxury ingredients.

3 of the 4 names provided to vote on are names that were popular in the 1950s in Iceland and nearby Scandinavian countries and that I believe suit his suave, cool and cultured character. The other name was Johnny, because well... Johnny Bravo.

Results from the last vote!

Hot DAMN, this was a landslide. Mizuki won with 60% of the total votes, leaving Ryuu with 0% of the votes... poor Ryuu.

Well there we are, all four chefs have been named, but here is a question. As the other three chefs were named in the last campaign before the cancellation, and as we have new backers that didn't partake in the last campaign, should we do a revote for them? Please let me know in the comments below.

Print & Play Version Now Available!
about 3 years ago – Tue, Mar 09, 2021 at 01:23:27 AM

Print and Play Food Time Battle in Space!

Hello everyone, this is Niall from Crab Studios. Due to getting a few messages regarding this missing tier on the Kickstarter, I have today decided to add it to the campaign. At £5, you will be able to get a Print and Play version of Food Time Battle in Space. This version will also be available to everyone else at the higher tiers as well, so there is no need to switch pledges to then switch back.

The reason for this addition, other than because of the frequent requests, is so backers can have a proper look at the cards and maybe even get a game in or two (despite covid times) before their physical copy arrives.

It is also to cater to the print and play community, which is something that I am new to but I am starting to understand.

When can I download it?

This print and play PDF will start being rolled out after the campaign, with an aim of getting it to every backer within just a couple of days of the campaign ending. The files are now complete, but testing to make sure the double-sided print lines up well, as well as making sure the quality is as high as it can be (RGB vs CMYK on budget printers is something I am debating with) are just a few factors involved in getting this version of Food Time Battle in Space as close to the final product as possible.

The differences between print and play and the final product?

The main differences are that the final product will have punchboard tokens. We will offer a page of stars that you can print out yourself, but note that you will most likely have to print these out onto a card or paper. Though if you do find some cool solutions to get these on a higher stock board then please send them my way and I will spotlight them in an update!

On top of that, we are playtesting the game constantly still to make sure it is as balanced as possible, so there may be some slight differences in the cards and what they actually do by the time the physical version begins its print run.

That's it from me, if you are new to the campaign and are JUST interested in the print and play, then make sure to back at that tier now!

Thanks,

Niall from Crab Studios
